Request Free Heating and Boiler Quotes
Whether your boiler is on its last legs, half the radiators run lukewarm or you are planning heating for a new extension, the first step is the same: get a few qualified engineers to look at the job and put a price in writing. Our quote service passes your enquiry to up to four local heating engineers who cover your postcode and carry out the type of work you need.
The form takes a couple of minutes. Engineers then contact you directly to ask questions, arrange a survey where the job needs one and send a written quote. It costs nothing to use, and you do not have to accept any of the prices you receive.
How the Quote Process Works
- Describe the job – tell us your postcode, property type, what heating you have now (boiler type, roughly how old, number of radiators) and what you would like done.
- We pass it on – your enquiry goes to heating engineers who cover your area and handle that kind of work.
- Engineers get in touch – expect a call or email to talk through the details; boiler upgrades, new systems and underfloor heating normally need a home survey.
- Compare the quotes – check the equipment, scope, timescale and warranty on each one, not just the total.
- Decide in your own time – appoint the engineer you prefer, ask follow-up questions, or decline them all.
Heating Work You Can Get Quotes For
- Boiler upgrades – replacing an inefficient or unreliable boiler with a modern condensing combi, system or regular boiler.
- Combi conversions – removing loft tanks and a hot water cylinder and switching to a combi where it suits the household.
- Cylinder upgrades – replacing an old vented cylinder with an unvented mains-pressure cylinder for stronger showers.
- Full central heating systems – boiler, pipework, radiators and controls designed from scratch.
- Replacing storage heaters – converting electric storage heating to a wet system.
- Radiator replacement – like-for-like swaps, upsizing, column and designer radiators, and towel rails.
- Extra radiators – adding heat to extensions, loft conversions and cold rooms.
- Power flushing – clearing sludge and scale from the heating circuit.
- Magnetic filters and inhibitor – protecting a new or cleaned system from future build-up.
- Smart thermostats – app-controlled heating, learning thermostats and weather-responsive controls.
- Smart radiator valves and zoning – separate schedules and temperatures for individual rooms.
- Wet underfloor heating – water-fed pipes in screed or low-profile boards, with a manifold and room stats.
- Electric underfloor heating – heating mats or cables for bathrooms, kitchens and conservatories.
Information That Helps Engineers Quote Accurately
The more an engineer knows before the visit, the more useful their first conversation with you will be. If you can, have the following to hand:
- The make and model of your current boiler, usually printed on the front panel or the data plate underneath.
- Whether you have a hot water cylinder and tanks in the loft, or a combi with no cylinder.
- The number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and how many showers might run at once.
- How many radiators there are, and which rooms struggle to warm up.
- Any symptoms you have noticed — noises, pressure loss, cold spots, sludgy water when bleeding radiators.
- Where you would like a new boiler to go if you are open to moving it.
- Whether the home has had insulation, window or extension work since the heating was last designed.
Property Types Covered
Our engineers quote for houses, bungalows, flats and maisonettes, from Victorian terraces with solid walls and old microbore pipework to modern new-builds. Landlords can request quotes for rental properties, and housing associations or managing agents can use the service for individual units. Flats may have extra considerations — flue routes, shared gas supplies or freeholder consent — so mention if you live in a block.
Areas Covered
Enquiries are accepted from anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In cities and large towns you are likely to hear from several engineers; in rural areas the number may be lower, and homes off the gas grid will be matched with engineers who work with LPG, oil or electric systems where available.
What Affects the Price of Heating Work?
- Boiler type and output – combi, system or regular, and the kW output needed for your hot water demand and heat loss.
- Brand and warranty length – premium boilers with longer warranties cost more up front.
- Flue and position – reusing the existing flue position is cheapest; moving the boiler or running a vertical flue through the roof adds labour.
- Pipework – upgrading gas pipes to the right diameter, replacing microbore or running new circuits.
- Radiators – how many are being replaced or added, and whether standard panel or designer models are chosen.
- System condition – a heavily sludged system may need a suitable clean before a new boiler goes on.
- Controls – a basic programmable stat costs far less than smart multi-zone controls.
- Access and making good – lifting floors, boxing in pipes and redecorating after the work.
Example Heating Costs
| Type of work | Typical UK price range |
|---|---|
| Boiler and heating system upgrade | £2,200 – £5,500 |
| Full central heating installation (3-bed) | £4,000 – £9,000 |
| Radiator replacement or new radiators | £200 – £1,500 |
| Power flush (typical 8–12 radiators) | £300 – £700 |
| Smart thermostat supplied and fitted | £150 – £450 |
| Underfloor heating | £1,000 – £7,500 |
| Magnetic filter fitted as an add-on | £110 – £310 |
| Boiler relocation labour as an add-on | around £1,000, plus materials |
These are broad guide figures including VAT. These are indicative prices, not fixed offers. Your own quotes will depend on property size, boiler or material specification, the condition and number of radiators, access to pipe routes, floor preparation and your location. A cylinder, flue change or making good can add to the bill.
What a Good Heating Quote Should Include
- The exact boiler, cylinder, radiator or control models being supplied, not just "new boiler".
- Whether the system will be cleaned or power flushed, and whether a magnetic filter and inhibitor are included.
- Any gas pipe, flue or condensate work, and any electrical work needed.
- Removal and disposal of old equipment.
- Applicable building regulations notification and boiler commissioning records.
- The manufacturer's warranty length and any conditions, such as annual servicing.
- How long the heating and hot water will be off, and the expected start date.
- Payment terms, including any deposit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it free to request heating quotes?
Yes. There is no charge for sending an enquiry or receiving quotes. The service is funded by the engineers in our network.
How many quotes will I receive?
Up to four engineers may contact you. The number depends on how many cover your postcode and take on the type of work you need.
Will the engineer need to visit before quoting?
For boiler upgrades, new central heating and wet underfloor heating, yes — a survey is needed to check the flue, pipework, radiator sizes and heat loss. Smaller jobs such as a smart thermostat or a single radiator swap can sometimes be priced from photos.
Do engineers charge for the survey?
Most engineers survey for free when quoting for installation work. A few charge for detailed design work, such as a full heat loss calculation for underfloor heating, and should tell you before they visit.
Can I get a quote if I don't have mains gas?
Yes. Mention it on the form. Depending on your area, we can pass your enquiry to engineers who work with LPG, oil or electric heating, or who can quote for underfloor heating, radiators and controls on any system.
Can landlords request quotes?
Yes. Landlords can request quotes for boiler upgrades, radiators and controls in rental properties. Remember that a gas safety check by a Gas Safe engineer is required every year on gas appliances in let homes.
Are prices quoted including VAT?
Ask each engineer to confirm. Sole traders below the VAT threshold may not charge it, while larger firms will usually add 20%, so compare quotes on the same basis.
Do I have to accept a quote?
No. You are free to compare the prices, ask questions and decide not to go ahead with any of them.
